Page 123

YES! I LOVE this fun tag from Janet at The Walrus Said. The assignment is thus:

1) Pick up the book nearest you
2) Open to page 123
3) Find the 5th sentence
4) Post the following 3 sentences
5) Tag five others

The book nearest me is one I found at an antiques store. It sits on my shelf with a small basket of flowers, just looking distinguished as aged books do. Julian Mortimer; A Brave Boy's Struggle for Home and Fortune by Harry Castlemon, copyright 1887. There's a handwritten note inside the front cover that reads: Edward C Wright, Jr., From Aunt Jack (yes, aunt), July 1902.

"I am ready to hear what you have to tell me about my parents. You say they are both alive?"

"Both of 'em," replied Sanders.

Ooh, intriguing, no?

I choose to tag:

Rebecca Laffar-Smith from Writer's Round-About

Melanie Avila at What Am I Doing In Mexico?
Michele Tune at Writing the Cyber Highway
Kimmi of Kimmirich's Weblog
Amy from Mind Over Mullis
Susan, The Urban Muse

Have fun!

Great Meme! I'd have trouble grabbing a nearest book. I have a whole shelf full right beside me but I might go for the one on my desk which is, "10-Minute clutter Control: Easy Feng Sui Tips for Getting Organized". :-)

Perhaps one of those tagged will tag me.

Sincerely,
Rebecca

Good golly, Rebecca, did I not tag you? I certainly meant to. Just now, when I tried to comment about it on your blog I got an error message - "internal server error." (For some reason I can't comment on blogs that aren't Blogger?) Hmph. But have at it! Consider yourself tagged, belatedly. I'll go back and add your link to my post. Have fun!

Being a blogger.com member shouldn't stop you from posting a comment on The Writer's Round-About. Just avoid using your log in details. You can put your name, email, and link into the boxes then leave your comment.

Thank you for the tag. I'm finding myself over run with blog ideas. So much so that I'm wondering if I should amp up my posting schedule and add a few more days a week. As my schedule is this meme would have to get pushed back a week or even two. *chuckles*

Maybe I'll just sneak it in tomorrow as a bonus entry. Then when I'm caught up on the meme's and chains I'm still owing and the contest voting ends I can run a poll to find out if readers would be interested in posts more often.

I just did this one too, on my other blog. I love when it gets passed around.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Have you read the old book? Is Aunt Jack really Aunt Jacquelyn?

Beth, thanks for checking in! I'll take a gander at your blog, as well. :)

Janet, I haven't read it yet. But I may sit down with it next time I'm needing something good to sink into.

I'm finally catching up on blogs from last week so I've just found the tag. I also have an entire shelf of books within my grasp, so I might just use the one I'm reading now. Or a cookbook - that was the first to catch my eye when I looked up (it's hot pink).

I'll do this today!
