As (sorta) Promised

A simple post...

Ran across this site the other day. I can see both benefits and potential downfalls but, still, it looks pretty darn cool. What do you think?

I checked it out--interesting. I like the concept that you could write so many a day but did it look like everyone could read what you wrote? Wasn't sure.

Hope today is the day you hear great news!

different and cool!

It looks interesting, but it's easy to get distracted on a site like this, checking out others' work, taking valuable time away from hunkering down and writing. That said, I'm off to put pen to paper!

Cool tool if you're really in need of structure and accountability.

If somebody is really having a hard time getting started, this could help. I do want to go a little faster than that myself. And "most novels" are well over 66,000 words.

Measurable goals in my signature at AW have worked really well for me.

Hi Writers:

Me and my buddies created Word Count Journal for the very reasons you note. As a structured way to start writing. You can make any of your journals 'Private' and then no one else can read them. You can also create a 'Private Group' so that a group of friends or a class can write journals and share them only amongst their friends.

Hmmm. Yes, I'd say it's interesting, but not for me. I'd have to agree with Joanne on this one - too distracting from getting the writing done!

I like seeing everyone's take on this.

And Chuck - How did you find my post? I'm glad you stopped by!

This looks interesting but I feel it's kinda gimmicky. I'd think with blogging being so popular these days, people would just use that. Oh well. To each his own.

I have my own little gimmick I use on myself. I write for fifteen minutes a day on my novel. Five days a week, no excuses. It sounds like it would take forever, but I'm on page 57 and I actually love what I'm writing. I also have time for making money.

So if Word Journal helps people write the books they have in their head, then I say "What a GREAT idea."
