One Question

I want to ask you one question. Nevermind its intent, which is merely to get you thinking, or how I may answer it. Just take it where you will and answer in the comments, however you feel led to do so...

Why?

Why are we here?
To learn get lessons in life and love each other!

Why does all of this crazy stuff happen?
So we can once again learn get lessons and become better people.

This is all I came up with off the top of my head.

miss you and I hope you are doing ok. Love and hugs, Heather

Why did I stop by Janna's blog? To give good thoughts and send a hug and prayer.

Anonymous said...

Why not? We must because it's there to do, begging our time, energy, and passion.

Because it made me smile.

Why do my cats only sit where I want to sit?
Because they think they own the house and I'm their pet.

Why do my cats only sleep during the day?
Because they like the night life.

Why did Janna ask this question?
Because everyone has a why but not always an answer.

Because it is so.

Heather (anonymous) - I can always count on you to get philosophical on me. ;)

kimmi - And I'm so glad you did!

fringegirl - I was wondering who (if anyone) would toss out the "why not." I heard a story once about a college professor's final exam that consisted of only the question "Why?". Most students took hours and hours trying to answer it profoundly, when the one student who simply wrote "Why not?" was the only one who passed. :)

Rachel - That's a good reason!

Cel - I love that! "Everyone has a why but not always an answer." Good on ya. :)

Melissa - Simple and yet so eloquent. :)

Why?
To try.
Or maybe to multiply
Words whose meanings make me sigh.
Why?
To hear your reply.
To cry
Tears until they dry.
Why?
Because we die.
With more questions than answers.
Before we fly.
That’s why.

That's beautiful, Turkey. Absolutely.

why not :)

Echoing Josh, Why not?

Here's another answer: "Z" (since it comes after why/Y). :)

Because it's time to go. Your friends are waiting. Now, let's get your shoes on.

The conversation I have with my two year old every morning ;-)

Janna Leadbetter said...

Josh - Exactly. :)

Angie - You're silly. :P

Sara - How funny! Hopefully his "why" stage won't last too long.

Why am I so sleepy?

I don't know. I've been exercising so I should have more energy. I blame nano.

Why?

"Because I am your mother and I said so"...sounded good when they were little. Doesn't work so much anymore, 19 and 15 years old.

WendyCinNYC said...

Because it's time.

At least, that's the answer to the question in my head.

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Sara, I love your answer.

Why? I love to ask that question about almost everything! I live on a need-to-know basis so for me, we should be able to produce an answer to that for everything we come up against.

Janna Leadbetter said...

Melanie - I think NaNo's a fine thing to blame. :)

Ang - I hear you! I cringe, though, when I hear myself utter those words.

Wendy - I like your answer. It's a keeper.

Terri - That makes me wonder, do you always come up with an answer? Or do you sometimes just give it up as "God's decision" and let it be? I'm one who believes everything happens for a reason - cliche as it sounds - and often I can't find his reason.

Terri Tiffany said...

I think you gave yourself the answer--that some things happen for a reason--and sometimes we don't see or understand the reason until much later or maybe that is one in heaven but it still answers the question why--cause God knows it needs to happen.
That answer usually satisfies me when I can't find an earthly answer. And I am good with it because it still gives me peace that God is in control and He knows the why.
My husband has been basically unemployed for the past 14 months except for a few months here and there. I though my life was secure and steady and we were set for the rest of our working days. Not so. I asked why over and over and only now I am beginning to understand why--from what we have both learned through this tough time and for what I can see He is doing for our future.
I didn't mean to write an epistle but feel free to email me if ever you need to!

Janna Leadbetter said...

Thanks for your reply, Terri. I'll be thinking of you. And the same goes to you, regarding e-mail. Hugs!

Janna: I have to say that I cringe everytime I said it too. I am my mother's daughter...lol.

Janna Leadbetter said...

Ang, isn't that the truth?! Others of my mom's sayings I catch myself saying: "I'm gonna jerk a knot in your tail!" or "I'll box your ears!" I don't even know what those mean! :D

Melanie Hooyenga said...

Well boxing your ears is smacking both ears with open hands. If done hard enough it can actually burst an eardrum. Very painful. I think that's part of the reason I can't hear well in my right ear, but it was from a fight over marbles, nothing my parents did. ;)

Because the voices told me to.

Janna: Okay, I know this was not the topic of the post but I remembered another one...not that she would actually follow through with it but I soon discovered myself saying especially in the middle of Wally World (Wal-Mart). "If you don't stop crying, I will give you something to cry about!"

Isn't it funny how our minds can be triggered by the slightest thing?

Janna Leadbetter said...

Travis - LOL!

Melanie - ROFL! That's too flippin' funneh.

Ang - So now I'm thinking I should make it into a blog post. :)

Jen said...

Why? Because I said so, that's why!

What? It works for my boys, AND my fiction!

And if you believe that one...boy, do have some neat things to sell you.

ROFL

A good question, Janna. Guess I'm a little too fried to attempt a more serious answer.

Jen said...

Well, that's what I get for answering without reading the other comments. :D

My answer still stands, though. It's a tried and true Mom Failsafe answer, along with the answer to the question: "Mom, what's for dinner?" Answer: "Food."

Just found your blog. Sounds like it was rather trying there for you. Sorry to read that, and very happy that you're loved ones pulled through.
Why? Because I just have to try, and trust the process. Fortunately, the process builds trust.

Janna Leadbetter said...

Jen - Pfft! I like your comments regardless of how serious they are. :)

rightonmom - Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate your warm thoughts, and I like your answer to today's question, as well. I never really thought about it that way, but I suppose the process does build trust.

Why? Because we love you!

ChristaCarol Jones said...

Because I feel a true calling to do this, even if it seems at the moment I totally suck at it.

Janna Leadbetter said...

crazynance - That might be my favorite answer yet. :)

Linda - Aw! *hugs*

ChristaCarol - I know that feeling well. And we have to keep going!

Because I don't want it badly enough, I guess.

(Okay, off to really write now.)
