Beauty

Beauty can be found in so many places. It seems, this month, many of us are finding it in the holiday things and, recently, snow.

A snow storm, expected to be day-long, began in the morning hours today, and it's coming down steadily. I suspect school will let out early, and we'll hole up in our warm home while watching the flakes descend and accumulate. (Actually, I could guarantee my girls will want to be out in the snow...)

This day and these views bring out so many feelings in me - warmth, nostalgia, thanksgiving, potential, determination.

What about you?

Completely agree with you. I wish I could be at home, watching the snow come down, enjoying Christmas carols and the fireplace...I love the feeling of nostalgia this time of year. And I also love looking at a single snow flake - the designs are so intricate and beautiful!

Pretty!

We are getting a slushy rain/snow mix here. Not so lovely.

We have snow here, too, and I'm loving it. Enjoy!!

That looks lovely. I live in Atlanta GA.. we don't get snow that often. Being from NC, where it snowed every year multiple times, I really miss the snow and seeing sites like that. There's nothing quite like sitting outside, hot chocolate in hand, and writing while listening to the limbs crackle and pop. There's a peace about it I really miss. Even New Orleans got snow this year!

Thank you for posting these pictures! I definitely get nostalgic this time of year. I love sitting inside the cozy living room with a good book and maybe a movie playing, while watching the snow fall.

Someone please send some snow to Alabama...PLEEEESE! We have only rain. Oh...how it would be great to see the fluffy stuff, build a fire and curl up with a good book. Enjoy!

Makes me want to hibernate :-)

Which I guess I am doing, sort of. Thanks for your comment on my blog :-). Have a Merry Christmas and a Wonderful year ahead full of agent requests, etc. :-)

So pretty! No snow here yet, but hoping for some by Christmas. Very peaceful.

I love the peace and calm after a freshly fallen snow.

Melissa - Sounds like you've got a great idea for the evening ahead!

Wendy - I don't with that ucky slush on anybody.

Barbara - Thanks! You, too!

Cel - How cold does it get in GA? I bet you do miss the snow.

Melanie - I wish I'd waited a few more hours. The accumulation since then is so gorgeous!

Ang - I'll see what I can do. ;)

PinkInk - Hibernation sounds so nice once in awhile, doesn't it? And thanks for the Christmas wishes.

Joanne - Still just over a week, so it could totally happen!

Travis - Me, too. And I enjoy watching my girls play in it, but it loses some of its beauty when it's been tromped through. I love it smooth and untouched best.

We have temps around 20 and frozen leftover snow from Sunday. All I can say is... this is definitely not the time to be potty training a puppy. Brrrrrr...

However it is beautiful, and like your children, mine are enjoying all the fun things to do in the snow.

Well, like this week our lows are in the 50's with highs in the mid to low 60s. I'd say we normally hover around high 30's to mid 50's during the winter. We do occasionally go below freezing but we've only really had 1 good snow (good, I mean 2-3 inches) in the last 4 years. Normally we get ice and sleet instead.

I LOVE snow. In fact, I love snow and rain both. I work SO much better when I'm holed up inside with bad weather. I adore bad weather. Maybe it's those years of snow days that get me excited!

I am always highly entertained by the thought of cancelling school because of a little snow. Yes, I know, you don't have as many plows, and you don't have snow tires, so it's justifiable. But still entertaining.

I was out shopping in southern PA today and practically had the stores to myself. A little wet snow was falling. LOL! Oh the moans and groans...

Of course, back home they had to contend with a blizzard AND a transit strike. Not so pretty.

Gorgeous pictures!! But our day was so nice here at 80 and sunny and blue--my kind of Florida day.

It's snowing in NY right now. Yesterday summer, today winter...go figure.

We get it so rarely here, the world just comes to a screeching halt while we stand around slack-jawed for awhile. It is truly a lovely, pure feeling seeing everything still untouched under the winter blanket.

I will say there's no better feeling than being holed up inside a cozy house when it's snowing like crazy outside and the news is trying to scare everyone. I just curl up with some coffee and I'm good to go. Great stuff.

Turk - Aw, poor puppy. And poor you!

Cel - Yeah, ice and sleet are no fun.

Spy - I agree! Stuff like that outside makes the atmosphere inside so much better for progress.

Janet - I don't want anything to do with a Canadian winter, that's for sure! ;)

Terri - Despite the beautiful snow I'd miss here, warm and sunny Florida sounds so lovely!

Fringegirl - I'm glad you were able to enjoy your NYC trip before it snowed!

Angie - You got lots of great pictures last week, didn't you?

Josh - So you're a snow lovin' guy, huh?

Aaron - What's with Blogger IDing people in a funny way? Glad I could click the link and see it was you! :)

I'll have you know we stay warmer in a Canadian winter. We actually insulate our buildings up there.

Just call me "freezing in PA".

Snow, fire and cocoa and a good book to curl up with :D

Janet - ROFL!

Kimmi - That sounds perfect!

I love it when it snows in the winter. Too often, we have what I call "six months of November" here...endless brown, cold weather from November to March with very little snow or opportunity to get out and do things like cross country ski in the park behind my house.
We've had a bit of snow this week, so I'm hopeful we'll have a nice white Christmas! My mood usually brightens on a snowy day!

Dominique - That must be tough! Everything would feel so barren, I'd think.
