Ducks, Boat, Pond

When over the weekend we came across these ducks, and their picture-perfect surroundings, I had to pull out my camera.
`
Tell me a story, give me an observation, anything--no rules--about this photo.

It's 7 am and my brain isn't awake yet but when I saw the picture I couldn't help but think of a romance and how a woman came upon these two ducks together and it reminded her of her lost love who she used to go out in the canoe with on that same pond.

I think because of the book I just read, I imagine two human souls, reincarnated through those two ducks. They loved each once, many lives ago as humans. For years, they were lost without each other, but this photograph represents their reunion.

My kids leap forward to chase the ducks. The ducks, in a flurry of feathers, race away and the idyllic scene is all gone. lol That would be what happened. Did you ever chase ducks? I remember loving it! So bad....

Male: "We still have each other even after the children(ducklings) are gone."

Female: "Do you think they'll come back and visit us?"

Male: "They're probably too busy having their own."

Female: "Let's have some more of our own!"

And so goes the duck dialogue!

They never loved anyone but each other. They died in each other's wings.

Sorry, that's the best I can do at 6:54 am.

Was praying for you yesterday. Hope you are doing well.

Harold and Gertrude are bushed. Gertrude just finished telling Harold about her day.

Five little ducks went swimming one day. Over the hill and far away.

Gertrude did a lot of quacking. She's resting in the arms of her love.

I'm constantly inspired by photographs to find a meaning or life parallel within them. These two birds are definitely living their choice lives, at the water's edge, cool as cucumbers in the shade, hanging out together. Kudos to them :)

"Hey hon, how about a dip before the two leggers take over our waters today?"
"Ah, babe, I would love to. The peace is so beautiful, but so short. We must enjoy now."
"Yes. At least we are still white. Maybe we should say a prayer for our friends who are still covered in that awful oil before we enjoy our clean pond?"
"Good idea. Dear God..."

What wonderful love birds! It looks to me like Gary finally found Alice. A lovely reunion.

Love? nah...something more sinister is happening here. One duck is whispering a poultry-government secret to the other and both are in great danger.

okay, that was lame. ah, well...I tried.

It is like they are saying.
I love you
I love you too

No story, but I admit a song twittered across my mind . . . 5 little ducks went out to play . . .

Love the picture. :)

Duck 1: Psst! Just be still a second...she's getting closer.

Duck 2: How long do we have to hold this pose? You smell like an old fish pond.

1: Just another minute. She's getting closer...closer...

2: All this trouble just to jump at her and get her to drop her breadcrumbs.

1: Shut up and look cute!

All I can think is that the world looks tilted! Like the water's sucking everything toward it and pretty soon the boat'll just slide right into the water. It's a steep slope.

Cool picture, Jana!

One word comes to my mind, and that is "peace."

Romance flourishes in the right setting. Especially when she has such downy white feathers, such a supple body...

One day, down by the lake...

And they lived happily ever after!

Love this place. You're always surprising us!

Why aren't the duck and boat sliding down the hill?

It reminds me of that gorgeous pre-Raphelite painting The Lady of Shalott by Waterson. Maybe she wouldn't have been in such dispair had she looked to her right before casting off and seen those amorous white ducks.

What did one duck say to the other duck? Just kidding.

It's a beautiful scene. Make me think of a peaceful moment in time.

Just beyond the lake and boat two would be lovers sat. Head to head breast to chest, eye to eye they rested in the comfort of one another. Their innocence as white as feathers glistened in the sun.

I cannot picture ducks, especially white ducks, as anythign but loud messy creatures. Regardless of how sernce their surroundings.

This is due to my years selling the foul fowls at the feedstore where I worked.

This picture is the epitome of a romantic summer. It's timeless, could be anywhere, any era, yet pulls you right in. I can feel the grass between my toes. Great shot!
