Of An Afternoon

A part of me wanted to approach him, the man with his dog. I wanted to say, "He's beautiful, and I've always liked dachshunds."

I'd have said, "I noticed you talking to the little guy. What was it you whispered so sweetly?" I saw them as companions, compadres, cohorts. They were dude and pooch, both squat and chesty with abbreviated legs, and a powerful bond.
`
But instead I watched from my spot, cozy in that place between warm sunlight, cool wind.
`
I decided that a verbal exchange I could dream up, the picture sketched before me, the what if, was good enough. Maybe better than the truth of the moment.
`
So I looked on and I imagined, and that was all.

Sometimes the 'what if' is better. Beautiful description and emotion here. Thanks for sharing :-)

Cute, but for some reasons that particular breed doesn't like me. The whole breed.

Oh well....

So many stories we create from people watching! Love this!

People watching. One of my favorite things to do. It's fun to imagine the story behind the person.

Okay, so this just made me sad. Well done, but I really wanted her to go talk with him. In real-life I might not have the courage, but characters in books I read, I want them to do it.

The "What if?" is the mark of a good imagination. I think so anyway. ;-)

What a cutie that little guy in the picture is!

I like the "what if..."

I know how that feels.
I always get that whenever I see bomb sniffing dogs(Labrador retrievers).
But somehow I just can't talk to the handler.
hahaha!
wait maybe it's completely different thing coz they might suspect I am up to something as I try to approach them.

I like making up my own stories, too. Then finding out the real one just to compare. Nothing much cuter than a man who loves his dog.

Hi Janna -

I love observing grown-ups, animals, and kids. Your what-if scenario was entertaining.

Blessings,
Susan :)
