Here's the Deal

On one hand, this lull has been great. I've enjoyed the break, the freedom from regular posts.

On the other, it's been pitiful, as I've dealt with a case of severe strep throat much of the time I've been away. And I've missed everyone!

But I've been doing a lot of thinking in the down time, and have come to the decision that I need a longer hiatus from Something She Wrote. It's important for me to pull myself away.

Right now, for me, it needs to be less about connecting, less about sharing my thoughts, and more about the craft. More about doing and working and honing. As much as I'll miss everyone, I have to disconnect and throw myself into my work. Try that whole solitary thing out.

For my long-time followers - this isn't the end. I'll be back, so don't give up on me! Please, don't give up on me.

For new followers and anyone just stopping by - I hope this won't turn you off. Feel free to look around, check my archives. I'm confident you'll find something worthwhile.

I wish everyone the best, and hope you understand my doing this. I don't know what kind of time frame to give you, but it won't be forever. I just have to get my writing on course. And right now, I have to draw it out of myself, by myself.

Love and blessings,
Janna

  1. Totally understand, Janna! I've backed off quite a bit on blogging myself, and I wish I could say it was to write more...(looks down in shame) but I can't say that. But we have to live real life and try to do this "writing thing" and there's only so much to go around!! I wrote my first book with no internet and was so productive! I don't have alot of discipline, I guess! See you on Facebook, girl. Because I know you'll be there. :) And so will I!

  2. Oh no! Just when I became a follower.

Well, Janna, I do understand. It's hard to be everywhere and do everything. (I say that line all the time as a mom.)

Best wishes on your writing and I'll miss you.

  3. Janna, totally get it too...I think that if I were blogging less, I'd be "writing" more. But like Sharla said, that is probably not true...and I tell myself that with my blog at least I am writing. :-) Have a great break and see ya when you return! Get better too!

I hope you find your balance and return here stronger and more focused soon.

  15. Janna, I really do understand this! I do! This is one of the reasons I'm taking a week off a month. I sure hope we see back sometime in the future! Good luck with all your endeavors.

  16. I so get it.

I backed off recently to regroup, found myself more productive. Now my posts will be considerably shorter and less often. As much as I love it here at Blogger, it can be a huuuuge distraction and sometimes revealing things about myself can be exhausting.

Hope that throat is feeling better. Good luck writing.

  28. There times for busy-ness and community; there are times for solitude.

Take your time. I/we trust you'll be back -- like the Bear after hibernating.

  30. I completely understand! It takes so much time to visit, even though it is a joyful fun thing and I love reading everyone's thoughts and posts and lives! :) I'm sure people get tired of visiting me and me not being around to visit them...and it may only get worse ...dang!

  31. It's great you can take that decision, because it takes me soo long to decide that... And usually, it is just when I get tired of writing that I leave my blog...

  34. Janna--how I understand about the need for a hiatus! Even though I've been away for almost two months, I still feel the need for being in "time out" every day.

I hope you rest and heal as well as find new energies and inspirations. I will miss you lots and look forward to seeing you back soon.

    Lots of hugs!

I'll add you to my prayer list

  35. Take your time. I have been wondering myself how I can blog, read blogs, take care of family matters and write. There are only so many hours in a day.
Can't wait to see what you have been up to when you get back:)
