Corn and Clouds

What do you see?

  1. Just finished reading our paper and there's an activity going on this weekend where there is a 7 acre corn maze adventure. The minute I saw your post I visualized the beginning of the corn maze and how much fun it would be to do.

  2. It seems to go on for a long time. :O)

  3. Corn Flake fodder.

No, seriously, the first thing that came to mind was a labyrinth, so much fun to wander around in this time of year.

  4. For some odd reason these words come to mind: The Great Divide.

  5. The end of a storm. Our fields are being harvested now. I'm starting to see snow mobile trails in them.

  6. A bit of heaven and a bit of earth. Life's a mixture of both.

  7. Space Aliens. No, seriously. They always show up over corn fields (Its in their "Alien Guide to Earth Visitations") and the clouds would provide a perfect screen. :)

  8. I'm feeling rather than seeing. My grandparents had corn fields and I remember playing in them with my sisters. Running up and down the rows. Laughing. :-)

  9. My journey of writing, unending. A great mystery that needs to be explored.

  10. This is what I see:

"People say the sky in Iowa is low. Storm clouds slide in and sit right on your shoulders. I guess I should have seen a thing coming, but I didn't. I just didn't have a clue."

rough and skectcy thoughts, but that's what came to mind.

  11. Can I just say -- I am OBSESSED with clouds. I don't know what my deal is. I have so many pictures on my computer because I like to watch the sun rise & set every day and we get some amazing colors. Ibis has started to give me weird looks because I'm always telling him to look at a cool cloud.

So for me, I see happiness.

  12. Rows of clouds more distinct than the rows of corn, and a very low sky...

  13. Stephanie - I couldn't pass up the photo op!

    Donna - How fun!

    JKB - Exactly.

Diane - The clouds did, too, that day.

Becca - Might I say, that word labyrinth fits you so perfectly. :)

    lakeviewer - A practical response! ;)

  14. Wendy - Sometimes the best ideas come to us as mere words like that.

    Eileen - Very perceptive!

    Jody - Love it.

JLC - Why am I not surprised? LOL

    Jessica - That's great! I like that.

    Tamika - very good!

    Tess - Ooh, another winner.

Melanie - I dare you to show him this picture. ;)

    CKHB - It's a great contrast, isn't it?

  15. Oh, I like this. I'm drawn to the clouds first and I love the way they seem to go on forever. Then I notice the corn and the stark contrast it has to the sky. But altogether a pleasing image that makes me feel warm and...well, like creating.

  16. Periwinkle clouds racing over the harvest.

    Have a gorgeous weekend!

  17. I see exactly what I see every day when I drive into our farm. I never see the beauty of it, though, like in this picture. I'll have to look closer next time.

  18. The clouds look like they are going on forever. I love that.

  19. The corn looks like an army gathered together!

  20. A beautiful day, looks kinda looks like that here today, minus the corn. :)

  21. At first glance, I thought the dead brown field kind'a ruined the clouds. But as I looked again, I saw the cycle of harvest and the clouds that watch-over and nourish.

  22. Cindy - Me, too. Create away! :)

    Jill - I love periwinkle.

Susan - Awesome. I hope you find it!

    Nadine - Isn't it awesome?

Glynis - It sure does! Wonder who they're united against?

Analisa - We have lots of corn around these parts. :)

Karen - I'm glad you gave it a second look. :)

Isn't it cool how we all see differing things?

  23. I see a sweet juxtaposition of colours. I see my past. I see my future. I see a pleasant afternoon with me walking, fingers pocketed. I see hawks. I see wind.

  25. I see a book with this on the cover, and me yanking it off the shelf to buy!

  26. Am I the only one who sees a whale up there in the clouds??? I'm obsessed with finding pictures in clouds, since I was a little girl. My overactive imagination. But see it? Right there, with a MOBY DICK mouth and an eye?? Okay, maybe it's just me. :P)

I see a turning, life in death.

  28. Thanks, Kathy!

    Poetic, Erin.

FringeGirl - I did. :) Pulled over to get that shot.

    Heather - Beautiful!

Angie - You would? That's cool!

Barbara - LOL! You're funny. And I see pictures, sometimes, too. :)

Deb - More poetry. Thank you!

  29. Stephen King's Children of the Corn.

    Kinda morbid, I know. :)

  30. she's hiding in the dried corn, her feet pushing into the dirt, maybe she could grow roots, down they'd go, and she'd turn into a stalk of corn, growing green and then golden in the sun, and never ever never ever again would she have to hide, for she'd be a part of the corn.

  31. Marian - Ack! ;)

    Capri K - I'll let Barbara know. :)

Kat - I love it, though it's so sad. Thanks for sharing your lovely voice.
