Why? Because pink is pretty -- and it's the color of breast cancer awareness.
How? Spread the word, share the button, your link, step into your party shoes of pink. My family's dressed and ready.
Alright, my littlest was sleeping, so I had to improvise. Her intentions are sincere.
Okay, so my husband has no party shoes. Nor does he have pink ones. But he humors me.
Cute shoes and sillies aside, I invite you to honor someone whose life has been affected by breast cancer. Leave their name and/or story in the comments section for this post. Warm thoughts and prayers will be offered for each.

ReplyDeleteThere are so many affected by cancer it's painful to recall them all sometimes.
I will honor a dear sister, that just lost her battle last month. Caroline Cannon, a fierce warrior for the Lord. A wife, mother, sister, and friend to many.

ReplyDeleteThanks for promoting awareness of this. So many of us will have to deal with breast cancer at some point if we haven't already. So, even though I haven't personally been affected by this cancer yet, I still want to offer support to those who have!

I love the shoes!! Did you notice the NFL players were wearing pink accessories on Monday night football? I loved it!
ReplyDeleteMy aunt and uncle, who are married to each other, are both breast cancer survivors. Yes, men can get this terrible disease too. I worry about my cousin, their daughter. I mean, how much do her odds of getting it increase with two parents having it?

and my great grandmother who was not so blessed
This is great Janna! One of my aunts had a double masecomy a few years back, one of the lucky ones, she's still going strong!

ReplyDeleteI will be keeping those who are suffering from cancer in my prayers and in my heart. My mother suffered from cancer twice. It wasn't breast cancer, but every cancer sufferer has the same emotional and physical issues. Hopefully we can eradicate it completely.

ReplyDeleteSadly, I can't think of any survivors that I know. My husband's mother, Esperanza, died two and a half years ago after a year-long fight with breast cancer and is the reason we're here now. Ironically, her name means hope.
My friend Vivian died at the beginning of this year after years battling breast cancer.
Both their deaths have touched us deeply.
I have two. Rochelle Silvers, my mother-in-law, survivor. And Deb Lewis, good friend, battling it now. I tried to get my boys to wear pink. They just wouldn't do it.

ReplyDeleteI honor a childhood friend of mine who was diagnosed in her 20's, already in stage 4. Recently the fight has been very difficult...I honor her fighting spirit and all women and men that have fought the fight!

ReplyDeleteMy mother had breast cancer and her sister died of breast cancer. I'm told that one or more of my father's sisters have had it too, but haven't been able to get details. So my risk is high and more so by other factors. My mammogram is scheduled the first week in Dec. and as always, I'm apprehensive but glad I'm doing it.

ReplyDeleteMy Aunt Lois died of breast cancer many years ago. She'd tolerated a horrible marraige for decades, but right before she passed she stroked her husband's face, saying, "This is the face I've loved all these years." I was thrilled that she'd forgiven before she met the Lord.
