This week I read
ROOM by Emma Donoghue. Everything about it captivated me, from the author's brilliant presentation to the voice of the narrator, five-year-old Jack, who has spent his entire life in an eleven-by-eleven space.
It's one room with two who steal your heart. You have to read it.
What book would you recommend today?
Garden Spells, by Sarah Addison Allen!
ReplyDeleteI loved Room, too! And Garden Spells.
ReplyDeleteI'm nearly finished with Gail Caldwell's Let's Take the Long Road Home - one of the best memoirs I've read, ever.
I LOVED Room. Today I would recommend the book I'm reading right now, Among Schoolchildren by Tracy Kidder. Even though it was written 20 years ago, I think it's still relevant today. And that says something.
ReplyDeleteMay have to check this one out, thanks!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend,
Karen
my daughter asked for this book for
ReplyDeleteChristmas and told me about the plot
. . . crazy!
I never heard of this one. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSounds great! I would recommend anything from Iris Murdoch. I can read her novels over and over again.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of that book but what an interesting premise. I just read Mistress of the Art of Death and thought it was pretty interesting.
ReplyDeleteI learned something new today! Thanks...
