I've Been Banished

From book stores, book aisles, and online booksellers. It had to be done. I banned myself. Because I've been buying so much, and haven't been able to make myself stop. I've ordered four new ones online in the last week!

My stack of books to read is large. Some are novels, some are non-fiction that spoke to me on some level. Others are books I've started but need a fresh crack at.

Dare I anytime soon utter the words, There's nothing to read.

  1. Now you're cracking ME up! I always used to limit myself to no more than three books per trip, and I had to have read two of them before buying more. Of course, if there's a buy 2 get one free sale, that third book doesn't count and I can get four.

    Happy reading!

  2. LOVE having a pile of books waiting for me like that. Do you keep a Book Journal, logging what you've read with a few brief comments? I like doing that for future reference, or recommendations.

  3. I just ordered three books online last week. I'm trying not to go into Barnes & Noble over the long weekend, but I have a feeling I may fail spectacularly!

  4. I got a B&N gift card itching for me to use it! Any fun reading recommendations? :)

  5. Melanie - That's what makes is so hard for me, is those deals! One of our favorite discount stores sells paperbacks for $1.99, and the online bookseller I'm a member of just had all books for $9.99 with free shipping. Sheesh! Makes it hard for a girl to be good.

Joanne - I don't, but that's an excellent idea! I have plenty of notebooks to choose from for such a job. ;)

Melissa - Ooh, that'd be so fun! I keep telling myself I'm going to sneak off to B&N by myself for a few hours. Better hold off on that though...

Turkey - I've been dying to read Jodi Picoult or Anita Shreve, who've been on my "want to" list for awhile. I just ordered one from Picoult. Have you read either of them? They're supposed to be really good.

  6. LOL
Enjoy your books! I've got a pile too, but my problem is I keep entering comments to win books, and then I win!
    Have fun reading!

  8. Jessica - I need some of your contest luck! :)

Yolanda - Oh! There's another place I need to stay away from. They always have a shelf of old paperbacks up front for $1/ea! ;)

  9. Too funny. For a moment I thought you might have totally lost it at AW. I had a hard time picturing that.

My TBR pile is almost as bad as yours. 19 books, to be precise. And 31 on my library reading list. And a reserve reading list that's even longer that will gradually move over to the others. Yeah right.

TL, try The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Absolutely charming and a marvellous voice, which is quite the exploit when you consider it's an epistolary novel.

  13. Janet - I have heard so much about The Guernsey Lit... ALRIGHT! I'll put it on my list. Sheesh.

Angie - Garlic fan, too, huh? ;)

2nd Cup - Hi! I'm so glad you've stopped by. Hope to see you again. :)

Kimmi - Oh my goodness, isn't that the absolute truth?!

  14. You are not alone...I too have the same problem with a bookcase full of books I have not yet read. Until the foreseeable future I am not purchasing any new books until my TBR list is sufficiently down in number, and those books once read that I no longer have an interest in keeping will be shipped off to the nearest library as donations.

  15. Oh, No! That's so much reading that you won't have anytime to write. Speed read!

    Happy page turning.

  16. Barbara M - What's a girl to do, right? :)

FringeGirl - It does pose a pickle, what with everything else on my daily plate. Hmm...

  18. Well Done. Now that is a choice very hard to resist. I bought another book today, and saintly I am reading this one. It's about the only book that has interested me in a long while, as it's not just word specific. It's an Art/Drawing book. :) Enjoy your reading, when you get to it. :) Happy New Year Janna xx
