I Am Grieving and I Am Mourning

There's no easy way to say, we lost my dad this morning. We are heavy with sadness but thankful for his release.

I heard today, grieving happens on the inside, mourning on the outside.

I'll be doing both for a time.

  30. My condolences. My mother is in the hospital right now, almost lost her on Mother's Day (blood clot reach the brain causing a stroke)and another family member (an uncle)in intensive care (coronary failure).

It may sound trite, even callous, but the pain you feel is a sign that you are alive, a life that your father helped bring about, shaped and was part off.

Know that while you, at times, may feel alone, you are never alone.

  56. I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my father two years ago (he was my best friend) and I still grieve for him everyday.

Take these next few days to look out for the signs he will be sending to assure you he is okay. It can be something as simple as a bird, a song, or a scent.

Write down everything that is still fresh in your mind so that as time passes you can still feel connected when you look back at your words.

I often describe the feeling I had after losing my father as an alarm clock blinking with the incorrect time. Eventually you have to adjust it to the time it is now to move on but it does take a while to get there.

From someone that knows your pain.

  62. Janna, I've been praying for you, girl. I lost my dad five yrs ago to a heart attack and my mom 8 mths later. It's very difficult to wrap your head around the loss, I know, and will likely be a roller coaster of emotions for the next few years. Let yourself heal, and embrace the hurt, it's all part of it. Know that your dad is in paradise and smiling down on you with pride. I sent you something as a message on FB, it might make you cry again but it's so helpful. Love you my friend.

  63. It's been seven years since I lost my father and over twenty since my mother died, but memory moments still leap out unexpectedly and leave me feeling like an abandoned child. We want to believe our parents are indestructible, but....

May God give you and your family comfort in this painful time of loss.
