But the Content, It's Still the Same

I decided--not so much decided, rather felt on whim--to play with the new Blogger design options.

Found this new template; it's my favorite favorite blue. This color, it's me. I've looked for it so many times before. Wish the background detail, though, the map-ish stuff at the top, wasn't there. Does it detract?

My blog header, the custom one I made and loved so, it's gone. But the blue, I just love the blue, and the plain white words look so much more professional.

I think it all looks so professional. Does it feel cold? I don't want my place to be cold. I want it warm as always; a place you'll come and feel and be happy and know life, the life I capture with words.

I suppose I need reassurance.

And I suppose this is a bonus post, published on a Monday evening, just shy of 11 p.m. The house is quiet, and I feel heady, in that dreamy way. Wanted to reach out.

With my new look. Do you like it?

  1. I love Blogger's new designs! I've played with them a bunch, but nothing has stuck quite yet. And yes, I like the blue. You should live with it for a week before you decide. It makes me happy.

  2. The new design does look good and very professional. The map at the top doesn't detract and the blog feels warm and inviting.

  3. Luckily it is only 9:20 here, so it isn't too late for me to check things out. ;)

This looks nice! No distractions. :)

  4. I love it Janna. And the map stuff actually adds to it. :)

  6. As one who has recently been playing with the look of her blog, I do relate. Yours is lovely--and a beautiful blue.

Thank you for the kind comments you left at the window.

  7. Hello, Janna. My best friend in high school had your name.

I think the blue you have chosen is warm. I like the map-ish header is not distracting. I didn't see your lovely header, so I can't say if I miss it, but I bet it was nice.

It's nice to meet you and see your lovely place.

  8. I really like the change! The white on blue pops and looks professional. I didn't even notice the map at top till you mentioned it!

  10. I like it, and my first thought about the mappish stuff was, it seemed writer-ly. As in writing about different places.

Like I always tell my clients when they are contemplating a new hairstyle.
It's a nice CHANGE, not a lifestyle commitment!
    PURTY!

Thank you SO MUCH for your perseverance yesterday! I have been happily lurking around!

  11. It's a beautiful blue, your blue, Janna. And it is still your place. Doesn't look like a big departure from it.

  12. I think the blue works really well, it's calming, subtle. I have a similar blue background on my website, and am happy with it. And I like that map on top, it's suggestive of maybe "journeying" with you and your words :)

  13. I like it! I'm a blue fan from way back, and I find this particular shade very pleasant. Don't you love the new templates that Blogger has available now?!

  14. That's a great shade of blue, and I think the map design helps add to it. Really like the new look!

  16. Thanks, everyone! I appreciate your thoughts. And since I've "slept on it," I've decided I really like it. :)

  17. i can remember what blogger used to be and how you had to know html and css, etc to do anything. what a long way they've come since 2005.

  18. I do like it. Very nice and the map stuff ads a nice touch I think.

  19. Fun stuff! I agree--the blue is gorgeous!

I think my browser is off, but I couldn't see your title or the map at the top. I squinted. The title and map are black, and they blend into the blue. (windows explorer)

Can you still substitute in your custom header? I haven't played with the new templates so I wasn't sure.

    I love the new look!

  21. I don't think it looks cold at all! I love the blue color, and I think it looks pretty. Professional and elegant at the same time.

  22. Jill - I could still use it, but it just didn't fit with the new look. It's okay, though, I've decided I don't mind. :)

I wonder if anyone else is having trouble? The blog title should be white letters, and there's about a half-inch between it and the tippy top of the page.

  23. Your 'new look' here is lovely, Janna... the heading in white, titles in black -- very smart. I've been experimenting with a new template, too. Wordpress had one in almost this colour and I loved it, but it didn't allow for the multiple page options that I need, so I had to keep looking.

Joanne has already mentioned what my feeling is about the subtle mapping in the header, that it brings to mind the writer's journey. That seems very appropriate. All in all, a great choice.

New season, new looks... we should all be feeling renewed and inspired to produce new writing, too, shouldn't we? :)

  24. I like the new designs available, too, and that's a great shade of blue.

I do miss your header though :(

  25. I do like it! And if it fits you, then I say go with it:)

  26. LOVE IT!!! It's such an INTRIGUING blue. Not navy harsh. Not pastel-ly ordinary.

    PERFECT!

But I like your blog anyway; the color is just gravy; rich and thick and....BLUEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  27. Hi Janna -

Lovely blue! The black lettering against the dark color is difficult to read though.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  28. I love how much you love the blue. You can hardly see the map stuff at the top. I come here for you and your writing and would not be put off by the blog design (at least I don't think so).

  29. Great Color, Colonial Blue....made by the colonists with their milk paint tinted with poke berries and comfrey leaves and roots for the blue.
    A perfect color for you.

  30. It's a lovely blue--makes me think of sailboats off Cape Cod. Makes me wish I could go to Cape Cod. Personally, I'd almost rather play with the blog software than write the posts.

Who am I kidding with that "almost" stuff? It's a lovely blog. You should feel happy and proud of your new home.
