My Book's Theme In One Sentence

As she finds herself unemployed, relocated and playing caretaker, Ellie Rossman seeks new happiness.

I don't think I've posted this before. (But even if so, it's a bit altered - made better - from what it used to be.) So as I sat at my computer, looking at the strip of paper on which my theme is typed (it's taped to my monitor), I decided I could put it in writing here.

Thoughts? Comments?

...It's been said you should be able to put your book's theme into mere words. Hence my sentence. What's yours?

I like it. It seems like a story of strength and overcoming challenges.

The one I am working on now requires security clearance and a personal evaluation done by the CIA. However, my first ms would go something like this....

"Two teens find themselves living under a curse when they realize that one will die without the other."

Works for me. Your story is so hopeful.

Here's mine:

After suffering social and personal humiliation, Amanda Adams finds she's stronger than she once assumed.

My memoir (weird because I just posted this on the BookEnds site):

A love story with an illegal immigration twist.

Or something like that. I haven't figured out my new wip's theme. I know roughly where it's headed but I'm trying to write this one loosey-goosey. ;)

Wendy, I think yours sounds wonderful. I can't wait to someday read it all. (Isn't it an elaboration on the short story I beta'd for you the one time?)

Melanie, I know many will be interested in your story. So many facets to intrigue your audience!

Yes, that's the one, but it's told through the POV of the crazy housewife's daughter, years later.

Melanie's and Turkey's sound interesting, too.

Ooh, the daughters POV? I can't tell you how cool that sounds.
