You're even sweeter and cuter in person. Great collection!!! :O)

Wish you were my neighbor so we could hang!

Perhaps typewriters are neat, not only for all the fingers that typed on them, and the stories told...but also because of the "permanant" nature of the words created then. When these typewriters were made, there were no backspace keys or delete buttons...

Okay, who noticed that I say type-uh-writer? Grr. I've tried to retrain myself, but it's what pops out every time!

And did you see that fly? He was in the shot so many times. I think he's my friend. :) Come to think of it... maybe he the one who kept kissing my face when I tried to nap the other day.

Janna, you are SO good in front of the camera. Seriously! I don't do vlogs well, but you're a wonderful speaker. I also love your collection of typewriters. The retro ones are my favorite. I learned to type on an old-fashioned typewriter. Seems kinda funny now.

I collect milk glass, but truthfully, I don't want anymore. I have enough. I also have a very small collection of glass paperweights. I like the old blown glass ones. I currently have 3. One is a small, and the little girl down the street brought it to me. I guess every time she was in the house playing with my daughter, she was taking note of my budding collection. I thought it was such a sweet gift from her heart. My last collection is a bunch of old bottles. My kids dig them up in the woods or backyard. All the kids in the neighborhood know that I collect them and they will occasionally find them and bring them to me.

=) Nice. I, too, have many oldie typewriters. The GoodWill seems to get a lot in too.

I love this video, Janna! Your typewriters are fascinating. I often see old typewriters in thrift shops and want to buy them. Unfortunately, my apartment is just too small for these monsters (they really are wuite hefty). I really want to use one for typing a story, just to see what it would be like. Do any of yours work? Thanks for sharing your collection with us :-)

*quite* Argh! I hate mis-spellings!

Your collection reminds me of the old typewriter my mother used to use. She wouldn't part with it for a new one. She would type reams on reams for my father, who was a theologian and was writing a book.
You have a great collection. I liked it...but not the fly...I know you think its your friend but I can't stand flies. I have too many of them here!!

Janna, I loved watching your vlog! I really want to do one soon. I just need to get a camcorder that works :) Love typewriters.

Janna, that is a unique collection. Each one is neat in it's own way. I don't know that much about typewriters either. Just that I learned on one in High School. Okay, your next story.....

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Awesome collection. I love history and I loved the fly. I wish we had flies here, that would mean no snow.

Great "writer" collection Janna. I love thinking of the stories that might be behind each one. Hm, maybe that could be a story in itself! I have a small collection of dolls, some old ones that date back in my family, others from special places I've been. I don't collect many, they have to be really special to me to be added to the collection.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours :)

Very cool! I didn't realize there were so many kinds of typewriters. I especially liked the toy. :)

My six-year-old collects Star Wars figurines. I collect Christmas ornaments from everywhere I go, and nativity scenes. We have nativities from Mexico, Ecuador, Hawaii, and I'm thinking France is next.

Fun post!

Hi Janna -

How cool we got to hear your voice! You did a great job on the video.

This brought back lots of memories, but I'm happy we now have computers. :)

Blessings,
Susan

Your vintagy Royal typewriter is the one I got in high school in 1967 and it carried me all the way through college, graduating in 1974. I did all my papers on that typewriter and still have it in my computer room closet. The magic columns really did work and was great for column assignments. As for the large keys feeling funny, I loved those large keys. You really knew what key you were hitting because they each had their own feel. Mine is not the blue as yours, but rather a simple grey. I've always been a minimalist.

You is SO cute!!!

My Mom gave me a type-uh-writer for Christmas one year. It had a bright ORANGE case, so it must have been in the 70s! I am sorry to say I NEVER used it, but she used to borrow it to type her Christmas card letters. I'll bet it's still over at her house somewere, she kept everything!

I don't have any collections. I'm not sure what that says about me. I guess you could say that I collect bargains. And looking at my closet, it would appear that I collect hoodies. That's very boring compared to your swell hobby!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

It was so great to see and hear you. I love that you collect typewriters, those machines whose sole purpose is to create words. I loved my typewriters (I've had several in my life) but I love my laptop even more.

The Santa in the background is amazing!

Great job with the video blog Janna--you are very comfortable in front of the camera.

If you ever make it to Central Pennsylvania, there is a small museum in Christopher Sholes' (typewriter inventor) birthplace. The place has limited hours and I have not been in there, but I bet it would be interesting to see for a typewriter enthusiast like yourself.
