Keys to Wear

Say you've got an antique typewriter. It's not worth much, despite its age. But the keys, they're something else. They show wear from years of use. You imagine the papers, documents, stories written for decades. It's inspirational. And you can think of nothing cooler than to... wear them on your wrist?

I would. I keep my eyes open not only for typewriters to fill my collection, but for one from which the buttons could be used to make a bracelet. I might have mine say believe or write often, something visual that would encourage me to press on.

What would you have yours say?

These are gorgeous. I really want one. I'd have a ring with my initial. Will probably have much better ideas when I've gone back to my WIP and am supposed to be concentrating on that.

Seriously, though,if you're thinking of selling them, I want one!

Mine would say....AJACK
It's all of our initials. I actually beaded a bracelet with this. It's my "mothers ring"!

What a great idea to use the old keys for jewelry especially with a writing message!

Mine would say "Write On!"

Oh, Oh, I want one of these. Are you starting a business on the side? I think you should!

Mine would say "Nutty with a dash of meat," my tag line.

Did you know AB has such a bracelet?

Mine would say "breathe" or something equally cheesy. I was actually thinking about getting a teeny tiny tattoo on my wrist. A bracelet might be easier...

I would want something like "All the World is My Jordan", but I would need a bigger wrist or be forced to create a belt with the letters.

Thanks again for the great project.

Cool idea! I love collecting antique typewriters but had never thought of making it into jewelry. Mine would probably say, "Lighten up" or "Smile a little"

Mine could probably say "Commit" because I need a lot of reminders that I need to commit to this thing called writing if I am ever going to succeed.

I have my parents' old Royal Typewriter from the 1950's. To me, it says that the power of words transcends generations.

Kristin Callender said...

Wow, what a beautiful idea. I think I would need a few depending on my mood. Some days WRITE would be inspirational, while others I need the reminder to just sit back and BREATH, and there's SMILE. That's a good one.
