Help Rename My Mousey Muse!

He's from Starbucks.
This is Huxley. He's "The Mouse Writer." He's sort of posh in appearance, and debonair in presentation. I want to get a tiny pipe, a wee pair of spectacles, or maybe a teeny C.S. Lewis book, and put it in his vest pocket there.

"This might surprise you," he says (on the small card that accompanied him), "but I write stories with my tail. It just takes a bit of ink and some imagination, really."

He sits by my desk, and I see him everyday. He smiles at me, with encouragement, and has the warmest eyes. I'm not convinced the name Huxley fits him, though. I'd like Shane or Phillip or Bim or something like that, I think. Refined but not pretentious.

Want to help me decide what it should be?

It just takes some imagination, really.

Leave your idea(s) in the comment section of this post. By end-of-day this Sunday (02/13/11) I'll pick the suggestion I like most, and we'll have a winner--and a new mousey moniker!

If yours is the name I choose, you'll get a gift from me, as yet to be determined, and which will be (sorta) personalized to the best of my ability.

What name would you like him to have?

Maybe call him Burt? (I've got Mary Poppins on the brain)

or...George? Frank? Eddie?

I could go on for days. :)

The name that popped in my head was Timothy. He would never be called Timmy or Tim, always Timothy. He would need his spectacles only for reading and the pipe would be filled with a cherry-flavored tobacco. He should also have a pocket watch with a chain so he can let you know when you've worked too long.

How about Heathcliff?

Very cute.

I really liked Bim but my choice would be Edgar :)

I have Samuel in mind.
or just Sam to make it more simple.

Seymour was the first thing that came to mind. I tend to come up with names in a flash and stick with them, so I declare him Seymour. :)

Ferdinand. He looks like a Ferdinand to me.
:-)

His name is Aloysius Penman of course, and he's been waiting for you to discover that for ever so long. He curses the misfortune that led to the wrong tag being applied to his exterior. People who don't know better might shorten his name and call him Al, but Aloysius considers the nickname undignified. He much prefers the sophisticated flow of the full moniker and imagines how lovely his name will look on the cover of a book.

In honor of BUFFY...and being refined but not protentious...how about GILES? :)

If he were mine, I'd christen him as Maxwell, but he'd be known to his near and dearest friends as Max. And I'm pretty sure he'd have a wonderful British accent. (Of course, my kids would refuse to call him anything but Stuart because we've been reading Stuart Little and they're kind of obsessed with it. He would have an identity crisis in my house, so I'm glad he's safe on your desk. :) ) Happy writing!

Hello Janna. I think he looks like a Walter. Such a stern but loving name. Or maybe a Wallace (that was my grandfather's first name). But not a Wally. He looks much too proper for nicknames.

I have a pink piggy on my desk. Her name is Petunia. And recently I added a pink teddy bear that was my mother's. I haven't given her a name yet...maybe an upcoming contest on Author Savannah Rose site...hmmmm.

Please name him Clive, as that is what the C. in C.S. Lewis stands for. It's dignified, yet snappy; sweet, yet profound. It fits that little furry man with the inky tail, don't you think?

How 'bout George?
This'd be after George Sand who would dress like a man, but was a female writer. (not that you didn't know that)

Theodore Mouse-topher Walters.

He looks like an Ernesto or Auden. Ooo, Emerson!!

I'd like him to have a literary name -not of an author - but of a character.

Sawyer
Gatsby
Holden

I think I like Sawyer best, but he's your mouse!! I like that Sawyer indicates a bit of mischief!!!

Stuart? As in Stuart Little? But Basil would be good, too.

Karen Lange said...

I was going to say Stuart, but I see Rhonda picked that one. Hmm, how about Wallace or Warren? Sorry, low on creativity today! :P
Happy weekend,
Karen

he looks like Duncan to me. Or maybe Dexter.

He's definitely Felipe (cousin of Fievel :)

Great names, everyone! You all are making this difficult...

How 'bout, Mousaic, a mouse of many talents. What fun, Janna. :)

When I saw him "Murphy" popped into my head. You could always add an adjective in front depending on his mood...Mischievious Murphy, Mellow Murphy, Mad Murphy, Motivated Murphy. I'm getting carried away so I'll stop.

He's a cutie. Hmmmm....

Gilbert - in honour of Gilbert Blythe from Anne of GG???

Jefferson. (but I really like Karen's "Bernard".)

I'm terrible at picking names. But people have come up with some great names here. Can't wait to see which one you choose.
