Who's ready for some stuff?
I got a great start on my new WIP yesterday! I'm very excited about this idea, but am hesitant to share anything just yet... we're still in the early stage of our relationship, you see, and I don't want to jinx it. But if things continue to progress and it looks like we may last long-term, I'll give you the goods then. ;)
I have another author to add to my favorites list! Her name is Anna Maxted. I mentioned her sometime recently, when I told you about reading her book A Tale of Two Sisters. The book was phenomenal, and I absolutely recommend it. Here's a small excerpt from the back... Forced apart by mistakes not their own, enticed by new loves, and confronted by challenges they never asked for, Cassie and Lizbet [who live in England] struggle to rediscover the simple goodness of their sisterhood, even as their lives take them on a collision course of heartache and new beginnings. The book, alternating between Cassie's and Lizbet's first-person points of view, is written with plucky humor and deep-hitting truths. Loved the author and her voice!
And... well... I guess I don't really have any things to share.
What's up for you today?

I love books about relationships--especially sisters.
Not much up with me today! I really need to get at something and hearing that you started your manuscript does motivate me:))
Sounds like a good book. I love book recommendations. Thanks! Happy writing...I'm going to brunch with a friend and then Christmas shopping.
Thanks for the recommendation. Sounds good, and I've been looking for something to read. Today I'm off to get my hair cut! Then back home to do a little writing. Quiet day.
Terri - I love when we can serve to motivate and inspire each other. You've done that with me several times, so I'm glad to return the favor!
Fringegirl - That sounds so lovely! Can I go? ;) Have a great day.
Joanne - Ooh, your day sounds nice, too. Hope your hair turns out just how you like it!
For all three of you ladies - I should disclose that the book has some harsh language and content, but when taken in the context of the characters and their circumstances, it's not too bothersome.
Sounds interesting. I love books about family tension.
GL with your new WIP.
I've read some of her other books and really enjoyed them. Of course I'm blanking on the titles right now, i guess I could look them up.
Yay for the new wip. I understand not sharing. I didn't tell anyone much about the Other Side until I was pretty far into it!
As for me, I'm going to the pool, then the airport to pick up some guests. Fun!
Wendy - This one definitely has some entertaining family tension. And thanks!
Melanie - She has at least four or five other novels. I was disappointed to find my book club doesn't sell them. :(
listening to music. HAPPY TUESDAY!!!!!!
Looks like an interesting book! I am also looking forward to hearing about your new date (ahem) I mean WIP. :)
Nothing like reading a good book... over and over... I just finished To Kill A Mockingbird for like the millionth time. I actually had my Senior picture taken with it...
I'll have to try this one and see if its another favorite in the making!
Josh - BIG surprise. :)
Turkey - I'll sit down in the next day or so and write my "back cover blurb." Maybe I'll share that soon!
Kelly - Oh, dear. Now there's pressure. I hope I haven't talked this book up too much - it's no classic like TKAM. ;)
Congrats on the WIP! My only WIP is a piece of short fiction that I should be able to whip out in a few days but it's taking me weeks.
New laptop is up. :o) Too busy learning Vista and transferring files to get any work done though...
I love that gooey puppy love stage of a new WIP. Alas, it's all too short in my experience. Soon I'm picking up its underwear and wondering if it kill the thing to at least wash one dish. Ah well.
Ahh, you did share and thanks, janna! Sounds great for your WIP and the book!!!
Yay! So glad that you've started a new book and you're EXCITED about it. That's as it should be. :-)
Since I'm suffering from a cold, I stayed home from work today, took a very long nap this morning, and finished reading the Anita Shreve book, Resistance, this afternoon.
MichaƩle - Thanks! And good luck with your short piece!
Janet - Ooh, a new toy? Awesome!
Rachel - Darn tootin'! ROFL
Kimmi - :) I like it when you come by.
Melissa - Good for you! I hope the nap and some home rest helped, and that you feel more normal tomorrow. So you like Anita Shreve? She's one on my "to read" list.
Ooh, a new WIP?? That's always so exciting. :-)
Today I walked twice as long around the neighborhood with my husband to head off all the holiday pounds!! :-)
Hi, Jewel! I hope the excitement sticks around. :) And that's a good idea... hubby and I could BOTH use a nice walk around the neighborhood.
