Writing: What It's All About

Last week I got some much needed time away from home and its demands. Absorbing my freedom, I headed to the library with my alphasmart Sally, and copped a squat at one of the quiet tables. I succeeded in losing myself to the work in front of me, and completed the two projects I'd been unable to tackle before then.

First was a book review, for Christina Meldrum's Madapple, which I'll be posting here on June 16th, in connection with Blog Stop Book Tours. I can't wait to share those thoughts with you!

I also tackled what will be the latest intallment for my column. I have to polish it a bit, but it's not due until the 20th. Woo hoo! I can't wait to see it in print - it's always such a rush.

Anyway, I can't tell you how my time away to write rejuvenated me. That session served to boost my creative side. My thoughts were flowing and I felt such a relief at being able to express them. There's nothing like it, that feeling of accomplishment when you've written something and written it well.

How does writing make you feel?

Fantabulous! Writing makes me feel fantabulous! There's nothing quite like it, is there? ;-)

So glad you were able to get away and write! Congrats on your column too!

And, as for the Amish in the previous post. They've always fascinated me too. Isn't it amazing, how they live? I'm always in awe of them.

I've been writing more this past week and my most frequent thought has been, "Where was that hiding inside me?" I've been amazed at some of the details that come pouring out of me.

Writing very much affects my mood. When its flowing I'm all smiles and when its not .. I'm unfit company.

Writing allows me to go to the world I have created and play there for awhile until I wake up and return to the current one.

Sometimes I may have a writing streak and get several chapters done, and other times barely a paragraph. I find photographs stir some of my passion for writing the stories that I do.

Your posts are invigorating to my soul, and I will be returning on a regular basis.

I came from Travis Erwin's blog.

I've taken a little (forced) break from writing, so now I'm in the phase when I feel like it will never flow again. I need to write a little every day to keep myself plugging along, otherwise my breaks become bbbrrreeaakkks.

Wow, Barbara. Wow. Thank you so much for the amazing compliment!

Wendy, I've had that phase before. It's scary, but you just have to promise yourself you'll work through it. Good luck!

Wendy, I'm just coming out of one of those phases. Setting really really low goals has worked for me and I'm finally writing almost daily.

Don't give up. :)
