A fused and cohesive post they do not make, but here are the random thoughts on my mind today.
Ready?
Go.
* It's dreary here this morning, and after I do today's WIP revisions, I may have to take a nap.
* Speaking of revisions, I found my stride again. I'm learning: It's about trusting myself and the process of writing.
* I just finished reading a grand book by Elizabeth Flock. Her writing is wonderful, and I found it inspiring! She's been added to my sidebar of favorite authors.
* I passed my business card to a complete stranger yesterday. She's just opened a new business, and I told her I'm a writer, that I could maybe help with such-and-such, and she could contact me if she wanted. My friends (who were witnesses) said it wasn't awkward, though it felt like my insides were exploding with awkwardness. Next time, I'll pull it off even better.
* There are two pieces of chicken bacon ranch pizza leftover, and they may have to be my lunch. Might steam some broccoli, for some added nutrients.
* I bought an old wood-framed screen door thing at an antiques store yesterday, and hung it on my living room wall. Sounds odd, but I actually like it a lot. (Maybe I'll work a blog picture in somewhere down the line.)
* I keep getting side-swiped by humility. I think it's a good thing.
* Why is it that the more balanced I feel, the more Things To Do I have waiting in the wings?
* I checked out the Sony eReaders at a store display yesterday, and the screens were much smaller than that of my Kindle. Made me glad for the Kindle.
* Today I MUST scrub both my shower and my girls' tub. MUST. And maybe make an apple pie.

This and That
So it occurred to me too late that I missed Tuesday's Stuff and Things yesterday. It seems to be the norm for me of late. I've also gotten off schedule, with sporadic timing, whereas I was publishing my posts at 6 a.m. Fortunately, it seems to have had no bearing on my readers. And I thank you for that!
If you don't mind, I have some rambling thoughts to share today. And here we go...
Yesterday's snow was so gorgeous! And the temperature has dipped so low for the last three days, the entire lake (600 acres!) froze over. It's so early for that to have happened! But talk about beauty. I'll try to get a picture sometime soon...
***
Misterwrites brought a surprise home for me yesterday. "The best kind of 'flowers' to get in a December snow storm," he said.

Aren't they beautiful? He never surprises me with that sort of thing, so it was an extra-special treat. And I've never had a poinsettia! Speaking of, my friend Kelly recently posted the story behind poinsettias. If you'd like to read a good Christmas story, see here.
***
My throat has been sore for the last few days. It's more than sinus drainage, but not as bad as strep. I've been taking tylenol and gargling salt water. Anything else I should be doing? I'd really like to avoid the doctor...
***
And for what I think is last on my mind... I'm curious to know what you think makes a compelling blog post. Is it a relatable voice? A drawing topic? We all know some posts are more inspiring, thought-provoking, or touching than others, but what makes you return to any given blog?

Scads Of Dresses And A Man Named James
My sisters-in-law and I, along with a close friend of the family, had a kid- and man-free evening out last night (just a while ago, in fact, since it's just after midnight). First we took our time lolling and chatting over dinner, then we hit the movie theatre for a showing of 27 Dresses. FA.BU.LOUS.
Katherine Heigl, whom I've not seen in anything before (though I do know she's a regular on Grey's Anatomy) was outstanding as a beyond-likable, selfless woman I'd befriend any day. (Not to mention, her character had THE BEST wardrobe.) Much kudos to her.
The primary male character opposite her was played by James Marsden and, can I just say?, I'm kinda crushin' on him. And it's about flippin' time he got a lead role. Can we pause for a moment of silence, in honor and/or celebration of James?
*****
Well done. And guess what? He's a writer in the film! Perked my ears right up. And my chest puffed a bit, too, so as to give off the "I'm a writer, too" signal. Too cool.
So anyway, this blog seems very random and atypical (probably because it's late and I've had two glasses of Dr Pepper and an iced mocha), but I just had to share. And I highly recommend the movie.
