LOVE this picture!

I spent a large part of yesterday priming and painting our loft. It looks so great, and I'm pretty sure our carpet will be laid come Saturday... which means I could move in to and decorate both my bedroom AND my writing/reading nook by this time next week. I've been waiting for this for a long time and I can't wait!

Last week I decided I wasn't happy with my start on Novel 2. A (big) aspect of the plot was leaving me unenthused, and I couldn't stop drawing parallels between the main character and someone I know in real life - which wasn't a good thing. I spent the weekend debating whether I needed to toss it out completely or set it aside for awhile, but ultimately decided the root story is one that needs telling (in short, a man's faith is tested when his world is turned upside-down). So I made a fat tweak, got some great input from misterwrites, and am prepared to get some work done this week. Wahoo.

Last Tuesday the newspaper in which my humor column appears came in the mail. But yet my column was nowhere to be found. I'm near certain it was an oversight, but I can't be sure because my editor has yet to respond to my inquiry. Normally I'd be quick to let assumptions carry me away, but she frequently travels for her job and can't check in, so I'm trying to be patient. I'd sure like to know where my column is, though...

I've started my Christmas list, which includes a flash drive and several books, including Kimmi's debut, The Unbreakable Child. You can preorder it if you like... just follow one of the links on her blog. Best of luck with everything Kimmi!
What's goin' on your Christmas list this year?
Anything happening for you this fine Tuesday?

Good morning! Just got up but so far our neighbor's well died and they needed to use our hose, and some pigs are lose again and my husband wants me to call Animal Control as they ruined our flower beds this weekend! And I'm not even out of bed yet! Hope we have productive Tuesdays and get some more writing done. I emailed another agent and she asked for the first fifty pages so I am mailing that out today!
Terri, that's great! About the first 50, not the pigs, of course. ;) I'll be thinking of you.
Monkies = funny. Great picture. Glad to hear about the new book and that you're still going for it.
Oh, big thanks, Janna for Unbreakable!
Loves the pic as well!!!
:smoooch:
Just bought Kendyl Grace a couple of preemie outfits off the web and waiting to hear good news about her health.
I'm back from my mini-vacation and am trying to catch up on everyone's blogs!
Thanks, Aaron. I thought the picture was pretty perfect.
Kimmi, you are so welcome. I can't wait to read it.
Barbara, she's precious. I'll be praying for her journey, and that it lands her home with her mommy.
Hope you had a great time, Wendy. Welcome back!
Congrats Terri! Janna, I'm glad you're back on novel #2. :)
Let's see, this morning I woke up in time to take a bunch of pictures of the sunrise. I've boiled some eggs, cleaned the house, and posted my blog. I plan to paint another wall with the rest of the paint (it was that same yucky orange color) and get more editing done.
Congrats to Kimmi! That is great news!
Not much happening here. Just trying to get through colds and such. :)
No Christmas list either. I like being surprised. Mr. Turkey is pretty good at gift giving.
This fine Tuesday is quiet, overcast, high 60s. Perfect day to get much writing done!
Ack! Christmas lists already? Oh no you didn't!
Good luck with the new direction on your WIP.
And I'm jealous of all you ladies getting to paint and decorate. We've lived in corporate apartments for years, most of my cute things are in storage and I'm so sick of white walls and miniblinds! On the flip side, I have an incredible view of downtown Chicago.
Glad to hear you've got a fresh, clear direction for your new book. I've been browsing on Etsy (not something I was familiar with prior to yesterday) and found some of the cutest things. I think a ring I found will certainly be on my Christmas list.
Wow, you're on fire! Hope you got your asbestos drawers on. LOL.
Nothing on my Christmas list, but I do love letters from my kids. :) (They think it's cheesy, but what can I say? I'm a Mom.)
Today's been busy. One of my nights at my parents' is Mondays, and Dad had a long meeting for a Victims' Reparation Board, so I cooked up some stuff for tomorrow to leave, got Mom a bath (had to use the wheelchair for the return trip to the living room), and now I'm home. My new semester of poetry classes begins tonight with Prof. Ava Haymon, so I'm excited about that. Aren't ya sorry ya asked? ;)
Wow, Angie, talk about busy. And your poetry class sounds like so much fun!
Your kitchen and view are beautiful, Melanie.
Why thanks, Josh. You're very nice, too. ;)
Turkey, I'm envious. Misterwrites needs LOTS of help in that department...
Beautiful, Joanne! Wish I was where you are; it's been dark and dreary here today.
LOL, Rachel. I did. But you do realize it's just over two months away? Granted, I'm not ready to get all my decor out like all the stores, but I'm thinking on gifts and such. And I feel your pain - we rented for so many years, where we could only have white walls, and I'm so thankful we can finally paint with color!
domesticfringe, I have an acquaintance who sells stuff on Etsy, but I've never taken a close look. I'll have to check 'em out!
This fine Tuesday, I am recovering from Monday's trip and harassing Americans on the side.
I thought I'd update that I painted the wall (only two coats) and have been editing for a couple hours. I changed half my character names so now I don't know who anyone is!
That's great to re-paint your place your own. I need to do my bedroom soon!
Great to hear your novel #2 is going better. Good luck!
A humor column?? (I think sometime ago, I knew that.) How fun for you!
