YOU tell ME

Well. I, uh, hmm...

I had hoped to post today with the link for something I submitted to Type-A Mom, but it hasn't been published yet. I'll have to get back to you on that.

And then there's the flash I submitted to Flash Me Magazine, and it's in the running out of almost 300 entries (!), but final voting won't be done 'til next month. (Check out details here - you can still submit! - on their blog.) So I don't have any concrete news on that.

Or! I could mention I'm still plugging away on the WIP, but my new widget thing attests to that. (I don't truly expect you to keep a close eye on it, by the way.)

So that leaves talk about... hmm...

I know! How 'bout you tell me? Is there a topic you'd like me to cover? A question you'd like me to answer?

The floor is yours.

St.Patrick's Day is tomorrow... maybe an Irish theme. : D Big congrats and I'm watching your widget.

Book Roast is having a pitch party tomorrow! Although I found paring down my pitch to 75 words was a bit challenging.

I'm keeping an eye on the widget thingy for you Janna...lol. No suggestions right now but I'm at the 8 hour job...*sigh*...get back to you later.

Hmm. Can't think of any questions right now. My brain is too fried. *grin*

I check your widget all the time! Way to go, girl! You are just chugging along at warp speed! LOL! I lost my word count widget during tech problems and can't seem to find it. Looking for a new one, may steal a copy of the one you have!

Still revising first novel. Seems endless, but hanging in there. Almost at half way point and then I find myself wanting to go back to the beginning and do more! UGH!

Janna, your widget is the first thing I look at! (besides your smiling face) You're doing awesome! 20K always seems to be the hump and you're almost past it.

And way to go with the flash. I've been looking for another market so I'll look into that one. Is it paying?

As for a topic - taking pictures of the police always works for me, lol. :D

I don't have much to talk about, but congrats on your word count! Very awesome. :-)

It looks like you are doing great with your writing.

How is that widget working for you? Does it have a good psychological impact on you? I have been thinking about it, but I am afraid it'll start to haunt me.

Kimmi - I'm thinking green thoughts. ;)

T. Anne - I think I saw that! 75 words or less, would be very hard. Good luck!

Ang - Hope your workday goes well!

Melissa - I'll let you off the hook this time. ;)

Donna - Thanks! I saw the widget you used to have while I was searching for one. If I can find it again, I'll let you know.

Melanie - If I remember correctly, this one gives you a choice between cash (not much) or a yearly subcription? I just love the thought of having another thing added to my resume! And I'm dreaming up bigger, loftier pubs to submit FF to.

Jessica - It's okay, I won't hold it against you. :)

Lori - So far, I have mixed feelings with the widget. Last week, I found myself pushing to write, so I could go in and update. But I had the flu over the weekend and my output slowed considerably, so I've been giving that widget the stink eye. LOL!

Congrats on the steadily climbing wc! Mine's not really climbing, just kind of crawling. Squirming, maybe.

I'm envious of your ability to multi task and write FF while on task with a bigger project. I have trouble splitting my brain that way. I really want to, though, I'd love to publish SOMETHING! lol!

Hey, don't you get the weekend off anyway? You can't really expect yourself to pump out tons of words EVERYDAY, no can you?

Hope you're feeling better!!!

Good luck on your Type-A Mom and Flash Me Mag submissions! Very exciting ... And Wow! You have a regular Widget-Watching Club going on in the Comments, too! Now I have to go check it out ... Have a great day, Janna!

Terri Tiffany said...

so tell me this--does the widget work on its own or do you keep setting it all the time??hmmmm
having the same kind of day as you though I edited a chpt for a friend and submitted one story.YAY!

That's great that you can squeeze in the time to work on other writing projects at the same time as your WIP. I struggle with that, but know I can!

I really enjoy seeing how far other writers are getting on their WIPs. It gives me motivation to keep going on mine!

JOY said...

Good luck on your writing submissions!

Your widget is getting a lot of my attention 'cuz I'm on the learning curve on how to do one and think it will help motivate me to work on the WIP I've chosen! So Widget on girl!!

Janna Leadbetter said...

Sharla - I hope to keep this pace! And doing other stuff while working on a WIP doesn't happen often, it's totally sporadic.

You keep working, you'll get there. :)

FringeGirl - Yeah, you'd think. But my WIP work seems so inconsistent, some weekend days are make ups! ;) I'm feeling much better, thank you.

Joanne - You, too! And thanks. :)

Terri - Nope, I have to go in and update the "equation." But since I know now how it works, it's just a matter of going into that particular Blogger gadget from my blog, and putting in the new data.

Jody - Oh gosh, like I said above a few comments, it's so random for me. Some months I don't touch any extras, and then others find me overflowing with flash and essay ideas! And one of the things I love best about connections on here is the fact that we so easily motivation each other, just by writing and sharing the progress!

Joy - Thanks! And you should do it. Just click on mine, and it'll take you to several choices. Pick the one you want, and then enter the html code into a "new gadget" box from the Blogger "customize" screen. Tweak the numbers to reflect your work (which you'll have to do as you progress), and voila!

How about money issues with one's spouse. My husband never thinks we have enough money. He's a pessimist, I'm an optimist.

I tell him we should be thankful for everything we have and not sweat what we don't have.

Jenni James said...

LOL! This cracke dme up! Sounds like me right now... though I do plan on doing my homework! Happy St Patty's Day tomorrow!

Janna Leadbetter said...

Kathy - Oh, isn't money usually the crux of a couple's problems? Bah!

Jenni - Good luck on that "homework." ;)

Angie Ledbetter said...

How about a little contest just for fun? You can post a recipe, and we can submit title suggestions...on an Irish theme, or Spring, or even Literature. :)

And congratulations, Janna, on your writing successes. Go, girl!

JLC said...

Congrats on being in the 'running'! I don't have any questions, but I do hope you have a happy St Patrick's day!

Janna Leadbetter said...

Angie - A contest just might do the trick! I'll give it some thought.

Turkey - You, too!

Lynnette Labelle said...

How do you put links in your post? How do you get a widget that keeps a tally of your WIP? Thanks.

Ugh, you can tell from the (non) activity over my way that blog block has hit hard. But if I had any ideas I'd share them!

*swipes st. patty's day idea*

Janna Leadbetter said...

Lynette - When you're composing your post, highlight the text you want linked. Click on the globe icon in the toolbar just above where you're working, and then copy the url into the box. You've got it! If you want a widget like mine, click on the one in my blog. Follow the link and choose the one you want, then follow the designer's directions. We do have to update the widget manually, to reflect progress. Good luck! :)

Kelly - It'll all come flooding back, maybe when you're feeling better!

Flash Me magazinne- what an awesome name for flash fiction publication, lol

Janna Leadbetter said...

Pretty catchy, eh, Colby? :)

Hey Janna. I noticed you were telling Lynette about the WIP meter you use and thought I'd tell you about the one I use. It's similar to the one you use but mine calculates the code for you.

http://celestialmountains.com/meter.html

Just figured I'd mention it in case you got tired of calculating it yourself.

BTW, great job on the word count!

Janna Leadbetter said...

Cel - Thanks! I wondered if there was one that would do the work for me. I'll check it out!

And Lynnette, I'm sorry I spelled your name wrong!

Your post reminds me of the old Saturday Night Live "Coffee Talk" skits with Mike Meyers as the jewish lady..."Talk amongst yourself. I'll give you a topic....queen size panty hose...reality or torture device? Discuss."

Janna Leadbetter said...

Ha! Love those skits, Michaele!

Got the link thing working. Thanks for the info.

just wanted to say that I know the feeling - sometimes the well seems to run dry and other times, it over floweth (as the saying goes). :)

Lynnette, that's great!

Tabitha - I'm glad others can commiserate. :)
